Dr. Pratt achieved a Bachelor of Science degree from Coppin State Teachers College in Baltimore four years after she graduated from Frederick Douglass High School in 1939. She later earned a Master of Arts degree from Howard University in 1948. She also served as the chief educational officer to the superintendent of the Baltimore City Public School System, associate professor at Morgan State University, and an instructor at Catonsville Community College where she taught disabled adults.
